HOLDUP in the HOOD is both a personal and communal exploration of self. It concerns the identity of self that comes with the realization of making one’s mark. The photographs in this series are taken from a larger body of work that documents an after-school, collaborative arts curriculum rooted in self-portraiture. They incorporate drawings, re-cycled photographs, print media and body gesture to explore issues of identity including: race, class and gender.”

"HOLDUP in the HOOD" picked up the SILVEREYE CENTER for PHOTOGRAPHY / Fellowship 17 Award this spring and opened 02.03.2017 with juror Becky Senf flying into Pittsburgh along with the other fellowship awardee Kris Sanford. The show runs through April 15, 2017

I had the pleasure of hanging out in New Orleans for the opening @ the OGDEN MUSEUM of SOUTHERN ART, "CURRENTS 2015" exhibition where "HOLDUP in the HOOD" was featured with six images.
